Fees/Payment: There is a minimum fee of $0.15 per page for copying documents. However, the fee for most records is $1.00 per certified page (amount of pages per report will vary) and $0.25 for each page there after.
Under Florida Law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public records request, do not send an electronic request. Contact the EFD Custodian of Public Records in writing.
Attorney/Insurance Company Requests
- All requests from attorneys or insurance companies, please include the client's name, date of incident, and location of incident on all requests for records.
- Requests must be made on the company's letterhead.
Fire/Environmental Report Requests
- Fire incident reports are considered public record and are available upon request. Fire reports are available at our Headquarters (Administrative Offices) located at 579 S. Indiana Ave., Englewood, FL 34223, during normal business hours, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
- It is suggested that the Community Risk Reduction (CRR) Division be contacted at (941) 474-3311 to ensure the report is available.
- The date, time, and address of the incident are requested to process the request. Provide the incident number when available.
- If the exact date is unknown, please provide the incident location and the approximate month and year of the incident.
Please note: Fire reports are public records, with the exception of arson investigation reports unless closed.
Subpoenas
- All subpoenas must be hand-delivered by service of process or certified mail to the Records Custodian.
- Subpoenas received by fax, regular mail, or any means will be subject to denial.
- The subpoenas must be signed by a person of the court and not stamped.
The Englewood Area Fire Control District Records Department processes all requests for public records generated by the general public and the media. These may include, but are not limited to, incident reports, district personnel files, district policies and procedures, data reports, and interoffice memos. To streamline processing, ensure accuracy, and track progress, all public record requests will be logged and verified; copies of pertinent records will be obtained and released to the requesting party.
All requests are processed in the order in which they are received.
