Assistant Chief

Assistant Chief Kirk Gaskell    

Assistant Chief Gaskell is a 19 year veteran of the Englewood Fire Department.  He joined the department in 1988 as a firefighter.  In 1996 he was promoted to Lieutenant and in 2002 to Assistant Chief.

Job Responsibilities

Assistant Chief responsibilities are to assist the fire chief with the fire district administration
and to assume all duties of the fire chief, in his absence.  In addition he:

  • Prepares the annual budget for stations and maintenance.

  • Directs all capital projects.

  • Coordinates all life safety and company fire inspections.

  • Insures quality of services provided to our citizens and manages disciplinary issues.

  • Liaison to: State Fire Marshall, retirement system, CBA and scheduling.

Education and Training

Assistant Chief Gaskell has extensive specialized training and certifications including:  numerous National Fire Academy courses, State certification as: Fire Officer, Fire Service Training Instructor III, Fire Inspector and Emergency Medical Technician. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and an Associate Degree in Fire Science. 

Personal Data

Assistant Chief Gaskell lives in Englewood-East with his wife Tiffany and their 4 children - 3 boys and a girl..  His hobby is his children and their activities.
